Chased in New York!
Memorial Day found us on Long Island. We have visited Upstate New York but until now had only driven through New York City on the highway so we were excited to finally visit.
We knew Memorial Day weekend would be a challenge. The whole idea of being in such a huge place that neither of us were familiar with at all was a little daunting but fortunately for us, a customer of ours who lived there most of his life helped us out and then put us into contact with his parents who live in the general area of our job. They were a wealth of knowledge and we are very much appreciate of their time and their help.
Initially, we weren’t going to bring a drone because we didn’t think we would have much luck finding areas where it was allowed. Fortunately, our first hotel had a spot right in front of them on the Atlantic Ocean that was permissible. We headed out first thing in the morning to put the drone up in the air. For the first time ever, we were CHASED out of the sky by a large bird.
We had planned to stop at Jones Beach State Park but after a valet at the hotel told us The Bethpage Air Show was taking place there for Memorial Day, we decided to spend the entire day. It is a beautiful park and being right on the Atlantic Ocean made it a perfect spot for an air show.
The entire show was fantastic from start to finish. It was very patriotic. The USAF Thunderbirds were amazing and had us on our feet for their entire performance. It was the perfect way to spend Memorial Day.
The next morning we headed to our job in Queens. The homeowner very graciously allowed us to get drone footage. Barry spent the morning doing maintenance and repairs on two or their machines. We then headed out to get one more bite to eat in New York before starting our trip back to Alabama.
